When you click Save PDF, a status window shows each step (checking images → sending to the server → place in the queue → creating). A large document can legitimately take tens of seconds, and if you see a queue position the job is waiting behind earlier ones.
If it takes too long, you see "Creating the PDF took too long, so we stopped waiting. Please try again in a moment, and if it keeps happening, let us know through Contact Us." Try again in a moment; if it keeps happening, let us know through Support › Contact Us.
Missing image files do not cause a timeout. When you click Save PDF you are asked about it ("3 frames are missing their image files.", with the count), and if you continue those spots come out blank. Cancel, select each such frame and place the image again with Choose an image from the gallery in the Image section of the Attributes tab, or delete the frame, then export again.

Saving a print-ready PDF for the print shop needs the Starter plan or higher. On the Free plan the Save PDF button in the top bar is dimmed, and clicking it shows "'Print-ready PDF export' is available from the Starter plan." Proof printing to an office printer (the Print button) works on every plan (see the "Export" article).
If you are on Starter or higher and it is still blocked, check the following.
- Monthly count: when prints and PDF saves together reach your plan's monthly limit, they are blocked until next month. Proof previews do not count. See your usage in the usage line above the dashboard's Documents tab.
- Page count: a document with more pages than your plan's pages-per-document limit cannot be exported. Remove pages or upgrade the plan.
If you see the Passes box under My Account › Plan, you can buy PDF passes. With a pass you can make a print-ready PDF even on the Free plan, and passes are used one at a time after your monthly count runs out (see the "Plans" article).

PDFs are made only from the saved document. If there are unsaved changes, the window that opens when you click Save PDF or Print shows There are unsaved changes. PDFs are created from the saved document, so it will be saved first. and its button becomes Save and create PDF (Save and print for Print). Clicking it saves first and then makes the PDF. If saving fails (a network error, for example), no PDF is made — if ⚠ Save failed is showing in the top bar, try again once the connection is back.

The screen uses a fast preview; the PDF uses the original image. Even if an image looks soft on screen, printing is fine as long as Resolution in the Image section of the Attributes tab is 300 dpi or higher. Below 300 dpi, an orange dpi badge appears at the top left of the frame on the canvas (it is not printed). Make the image smaller or use a larger original.

If a font used by the document is neither a built-in font nor in your account, it is drawn with the default font
Noto Sans KRor another substitute. Upload that font on the Fonts tab of the dashboard (font uploads need the Starter plan or higher), then reopen the editor. The same cause shows up as Font substituted — not available on the server, printed with another font or Font not embedded in the preflight check after PDF export. - A
The text frame has overset text — more text than fits. You can tell by the red out port on the right edge of the frame.
- Enlarge the frame, or reduce the font size or leading.
- Or press the red out port, drag, and drop it on another empty text frame to thread the text into it (see "Threading and overset" in the "Text" document).

- While you are editing text,
⌘/Ctrl+Zfirst undoes your typing. When there is no more typing to undo, it leaves text editing and goes on to undo the earlier move or resize, so just keep pressing it. - When you reopen a document, the undo history from the previous session is gone.
- Undo is not available in observer mode.

For security, the session expires after a while and you see a "Session expired" notice. Just log in again. What you were editing is kept in the working copy on the server. Changing or resetting your password (including a reset by an administrator) signs out your other devices. If the same document is opened in another browser or on another device, the editor that had it open can no longer edit.

Your edits are written continuously to a working copy on the server, so they survive closing the browser. To commit them to the document, click Save in the top bar or press
⌘/Ctrl+S; when Your work has been saved. appears briefly, it is done. Close editor asks Save your work? — Yes saves and closes, No discards the unsaved changes and closes. If ⚠ Save failed is showing in the top bar, do not close the tab until the network comes back (see "Saving" in the "Editor screen" document). - A
- Objects locked in the Layers tab cannot be selected. Unlock them first.
- Objects on a locked or hidden level cannot be selected either. Unlock and show that level under Levels in the Layers tab.
- Parent (master) page items cannot be selected directly on a page.
⌘/Ctrl+Shift+click to override them, or edit them in parent page mode (see the "Pages" document). - In observer mode you can select objects but not change them.

The screen shows RGB; print uses CMYK inks. Set Color mode to CMYK under Document Setup › Print, and turn on proof colors in the View section of the Attributes tab to preview the printed colors on screen (see the "Color" document). The print button in the top bar is for RGB proofing and does not match the actual print colors.

Click Start for free on the front page or Sign Up in the header, enter your name, email, password and country, then open the link in the "Confirm your PodoLay email address" email sent to that address — you are logged in right away (see "Sign up" in the "Account" document). If the email is already in use you will see "This email is already registered" — log in with that email instead. If there is no sign-up button, the administrator has closed sign-up — ask them for an account.
- A
Look for "Confirm your PodoLay email address" from podolay@podo.it.kr — it may be in your spam folder. If it is not there, click Resend verification email on the screen shown right after sign-up (one email per minute). On the login screen the same button appears under the error when you sign in with an unverified account. The link is valid for 24 hours; opening an expired link shows a screen where you enter your email to get a new one. Until you confirm, logging in shows "Your email address has not been confirmed yet".
- A
Click Forgot your password? on the login screen and enter the email you signed up with; a "Reset your PodoLay password" email arrives (valid for 1 hour). Open the link, choose a new password and you are signed in right away — every other device is signed out (see "Forgotten password" in the "Account" article). If there is no email, check your spam folder. An administrator can also reset it for you.

If "Your storage is full" appears when you upload an image, PDF or font, or duplicate a document, you have reached your plan's storage limit. See how much you use in the usage line above the Documents tab on the dashboard, or in My Account › Plan. Going over the limit never deletes files or documents you already have — only new uploads are blocked.
There are three ways to make room.
- Delete files you don't use: in the editor's media gallery, use Delete on a file (see the "Images" article). A file placed in a document has to be taken out of its frame first.
- Upgrade your plan: the Starter and Pro plans include more storage. Compare them on the Pricing page.
- Buy extra storage: on a paid subscription, add storage in GB steps in the Extra storage box under My Account › Plan. It is added to your current subscription and billed on the same date; if you change it mid-cycle, the prorated amount for the rest of the period is added to your next payment. It ends together with your plan when you cancel. If you don't see this box, send us a support inquiry.

The cause depends on the message.
- "File type not allowed" or "Some of the input is invalid." — the format is not accepted. Images must be jpg, png, gif or tiff (save webp, heic, psd and the like as jpg or tiff in another program first). Pictures such as webp pasted or dropped onto the editor canvas are converted to png on upload (see the "Images" article).
- "The … plan allows files up to N MB each." — the file is over your plan's per-file limit (Free 10 MB · Starter 30 MB · Pro 50 MB). If it is an uncompressed tiff, re-save it with LZW or ZIP compression: the size drops and the quality stays the same.
- "The file content is not a '.ext' file" — only the extension was changed. Upload a file saved in its real format.
- "The image 'file name' could not be read" — the server could not read the file (it is damaged or an unusual tiff variant). Re-save it as TIFF, JPEG or PNG in another program and upload again.
- "Your storage is full" — see "My storage is full" above.
